General Information

Prerequisites:
All applicants must have a high school diploma and some college level experience. A bachelor degree is required for the Elementary level courses. AMS grants an Associate credential to students who do not hold a bachelor degree and successfully complete the Infant & Toddler or Early Childhood course.

Applicants for the Infant & Toddler or Elementary course must attend the one week Short Overview  Course if they do not hold a Montessori Early Childhood Credential.

College Credit:
The University of Colorado at Denver School of Education Division of Extended Studies offers our students undergraduate and graduate credit for MECR coursework. There is a separate fee to register for these course credits. 

Financial Assistance:  

Deferred Payment Plans are available for all certification courses.

MECR is approved to disburse Federal Title IV Student Financial Aid. 

The American Montessori Society awards some partial scholarships each year to enrolled students. To be eligible for an AMS Scholarship, MECR must receive the MECR application no later than  March 31. 

Application Deadlines:
Space is limited and cannot be guaranteed until all application requirements have been completed. In order to complete the application process in a timely manner, applications should be received by the MECR office no later than May 1st. We recommend you apply by April 1 to avoid being wait listed.
