Leadership: Finding Your Signature
NEW START DATE! January 2018. After consideration, MECR has decided to run the Administrator Course every 2 years. Interested applicants please contact Dr. Merrie King at firstname.lastname@example.org
- Combine work and study with a convenient schedule of seminars and a 2-week summer session.
- Learn and teach with a hybrid format: face-to-face and online.
- Build community with diverse and competent colleagues.
- Gain insight and support from Montessori mentors.
Our Administrator course provides a comprehensive preparation for adults who wish to serve in leadership positions within Montessori schools. Montessori schools benefit from leadership that aligns with the Montessori educational approach.
The Administrator course is a hybrid course that consists of 200 hours face-to-face and 175 hours online coursework, and is designed to fit the schedules of full-time educational leaders. The face-to-face hours will occur during one weekend seminar during the winter/spring semester, a two-week summer session, followed by a nine-month practicum during which the student serves in a leadership capacity in a school setting. Three additional weekend seminars occur during the practicum year.
The face-to-face courses will include some online work as well. The online work is distributed throughout the entire 17 months and the face-to-face time is scheduled as indicated by the course calendar.
Graduates of the MECR Administrator course may need to complete additional coursework in order to be director qualified or prepared for principal licensure in the State of Colorado.
MECR is affiliated by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE).
